The suspect in a brutal murder in Harris County was last seen in Palestine as recently as Thursday or Friday of last week and detectives believe he is still in East Texas.
According to Harris County homicide detectives, 28-year-old Colt Morgan is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Wende Marshall, of Cypress, who went missing on October 30. It is believed that Morgan killed his girlfriend the day after she told her father they were engaged.
At this point, Morgan is not in custody. His last known location was in Palestine. When asked if Morgan is still believed to be in the area, the detective simply replied, "he doesn't have a car."
Deputies say Morgan originally told them she went to a friend's home after the couple got into an argument. However, when authorities executed a search warrant on Marshall's home, they discovered evidence that lead them to believe Marshall was murdered.
Although Marshall's body has not been recovered, investigators believe Morgan stabbed her to death. On Friday and Saturday, investigators discovered human remains at her home. Upon entering the home, authorities found a charred human skull, finger bone and ankle bone in a fireplace.
"It's reported that blood spatter and hair and bone fragments were found in his home leading to the charges being filed," said Ryan Sullivan with Crime Stoppers
If you have any information regarding Morgan's whereabouts, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
